This session is an overview and primer of the interplay between bankruptcy law and family law and provides an update on recent developments for those attorneys who attended the 2017 session. After reviewing certain bankruptcy law fundamentals, our trainers, Jeff Margolin and Elizabeth Beitler, will examine major family law issues within the context of personal bankruptcy filings under chapters 7 and 13 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. We’ll conclude with recent developments and practical points that may aid attorneys when addressing bankruptcy issues in their case assignments.
