About the Event

Did you know that there is no right to counsel in immigration proceedings, even for children?  Or that children without representation are five times more likely to be deported?

Join an attorney from The Door’s Legal Services Center to learn about how you can represent a child client in his or her immigration proceedings.  The training will cover common forms of legal relief available for children, such as Special Immigrant Juvenile Status and asylum, and explain how to pursue such relief before state family court, immigration court and/or the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).  You will also learn practice tips for working with a child client.

Presented by: Kaavya Viswanathan, Esq., Pro Bono Managing Attorney at The Door's Legal Services Center

Earn 2 CLE credits.

This course is FREE to those who accept a pro bono matter from the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project or The Door's Legal Services Center before February 15, 2019. The cost is $100 for attorneys who do not wish to take a pro bono referral.
