Dear Colleagues and Animal Lovers!

Join the Animal Rights committee on Tuesday, March 26th, as we convene our SECOND meeting!

We will continue our education and activism on behalf of non-human animals at NLG-NYC headquarters (168 Canal Street) from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

Joining us, is guest speaker Doris Lin of the BEAR Group and NJARA.  Attorney Lin represented the BEAR Group and NJARA in a lawsuit against the state of NJ, successfully invalidating the state’s bear hunt in 2007. She is also a former chair of the NJ State Bar Association’s Animal Law Committee, and is the author of “Bear Hunt Controversy Shines the Spotlight on New Jersey’s Wildlife Law,” published in New Jersey Lawyer Magazine.

Our other agenda items include: supporting L. Rosenthal's tether bills (A729 and A830); supporting Councilwoman Rivera's bill against foie gras  https://legistar.council.nyc.gov/LegislationDetail.aspx?ID=3844860&GUID=A91556AB-4F62-4902-A808-0FEE9B46F16D&Options=ID|Text|&Search=rivera and organizing a CLE around defense of tenant animals at New York's free avian hospital: the Wild Bird Fund.

All lawyers, law students and legal workers with interest in animal rights are welcome!  See you March 26th!
