Free CLE w/Volunteer Service: Basic CLARO Training

UPCOMING BASIC CLARO TRAINING PROGRAMS

Volunteer to provide limited legal advice and assistance to unrepresented consumers at court-based legal clinics.

We currently have two Basic CLARO Trainings scheduled for this Spring/Early Summer.  Please see the details below for each:

3 CLE CREDITS: 1.5 Professional Practice, 1.5 Skills

Appropriate for both newly admitted & experienced attorneys

Topics include: Introduction to CLARO; Ethical Considerations; Client Interaction; Pre-Litigation & The Life of a Debt; The Court Process & Key Motions; Substantive Defenses; Negotiating a Settlement; Stipulations 

Your Commitment

To receive 3 CLE credits you must volunteer for 6 hours total with CLARO by December 31, 2019.  Please allow between 4 and 6 weeks to receive the CLE certificate.

Volunteers may serve with one of the following consumer debt pro se assistance programs, all of which provide limited legal advice to unrepresented consumers: 

  • Bronx CLARO
  • Brooklyn CLARO
  • Manhattan CLARO (must be a NYCLA member or Fordham Law School alumnus/a)
  • Queens CLARO
  • Staten Island CLARO 
  • Westchester CLARO

Please feel free to forward this notice to anyone who may be interested in becoming a volunteer with the CLARO Program.

Volunteers who have participated through a CLARO Program for at least six months will also be eligible to volunteer for limited-scope consumer clinics to serve low-income veterans and their family members through the Feerick Center's Volunteer Lawyers for Veterans Program.
